My story
This precious big girl (almost 70#) was found, as too many are, thrown out like garbage, but she's a true gem. She's been vetted but and had to be treated for the deadly heartworm disease because her owner sadly didn't think she was worth a cheap little pill once a month to prevent her from getting the disease. Here in the Deep South, it's a losing gamble to not give prevention. She is feeling much better and has recovered from the treatment and she's a pretty chilled out dog.She doesn't like other dogs to come up and get in her business but she won't seek them out and get in theirs. She's more a loner and prefers to be the only child. She's in foster with an older dog and several cats and doing very well with them. She's very sweet and chill, according to the fosters. The older dog is diabetic and Shellie is actually acting as the ""dog nurse"" to the older dog and is being so kind and sweet to her. 💕Shellie is terrified of storms and will escape a privacy fence if left on her own to use a doggie door during the day! She needs a leash walk for potty during rain and storms. Also no doggie door while the owners are away or she'll be GONE when they return. She's fine with a crate to be on the safe side while owners are working or away.Apply to adopt at madisonarf.org
