Here's an odd one for you. It's a classical guitar marked as made by S.F. Hopkins. Who is S.F. Hopkins? I do not know. It's a classical folk guitar.Despite the high action, it actually sounds surprisingly nice. Loud and bold. But it's best considered a project guitar. 12th fret action is between 6/32" and 7/32" on both sides. So, either the neck needs to be reset or, even better, shave the bottom of the bridge. There's a small hole drilled in the headstock, see photo. There's a small hole on the bass side of neck heel, see photo. There's a small hole in the middle of the upper bout back, see photo. Both the top and back have a variety of cracks that have been glued. Both the top and back are slightly warped. The initials DCJ have been written on the headstock in black marker. The neck profile is quite fat.All that said, I just put new strings on it, and it has a good sound. Maybe it's destiny is as a wall hanger, but it'd sure be nice for someone to try to bring it back to full musical life.Comes in a Road Runner big bag in good shape, except for one zipper toggle missing. The zippers works, but one of the toggles is gone.Does anybody know who S.F. Hopkins was?
