My story

　　Hello! My name is Jack (Scurvy Jack the Pirate Cat, if you prefer my full name!), and I am searching for my fur-ever home- someone who will love me, and snuggle me, and feed me all the rest of my days! I'm an older gentleman, but I still have LOTS of life and love left in me! But let's address the elephant in the room. You're probably wondering why my name is Scurvy Jack (The Pirate Cat). A fair question, to which I answer: Because I have no teeth! You see, I had a bit of a rough start. I was left in front of the shelter on a chilly morning over three months ago, my coat overwhelmed with mats and my mouth riddled with abscesses and infection. I was hungry, and scared, and cold, and in so much pain. But my friends at Animal Friends Alliance took me in, and after a full dental extraction, months of healing, a wicked-cool haircut, and lots of love I am feeling paws-i-tively spectacular! Don't worry though- none of this has negatively impacted me at all! I still LOVE to eat, LOVE to snuggle, and LOVE to play! My foster mom says that I'm just the sweetest cat, and she loves that I talk to her (yes, yes, I am rather chatty) and play fetch with my favorite mouse toy. A few things for you to know, though: I do need a little more care than most other cats. You see, I have something called chronic Gingivostomatitis , and it means that my mouth is prone to inflammation and, if not cared for properly, infection. So I take a low dose of steroids every other day. I don't mind, though, and am happy to gobble them up if you hide them in a treat! Additionally, I'm on a specific diet that helps make sure my mouth stays healthy and I stay happy! My only request for my potential new family (other than LOTS of snuggle time) is that I be the only cat in your home... I like to be the king of the castle!
