My story
Thank you so much for looking into Wags and Whiskers' The Cat House for the newest addition to your family.
They call me Scamp. I have a pretty crazy story to tell. Before I came to Wags and Whiskers, I was living on the streets, hiding under and in between pallets, crates and boxes; trying to stay warm in this California winter, and trying to stay safe from predators, and most importantly cars, especially those really big, long trucks that would back into the pallet area where I was calling my home. I fended for myself, avoiding humans to stay safe, until one day, 2 humans came to my "home" and said they were not leaving until they got me to safety. I didn't trust them, of course, so I hid, and ran, and hid some more. For over an hour, these 2 humans sat, talked to me, threw little bits of a yummy stinky food from a can to me, and assured me that they were not leaving until they got their hands on me. Finally, after I slid between some shelving units, they cornered me. They were very gentle, and assured me that they were not going to hurt me, but rather, help me; I didn't believe them. They sure proved me wrong though, within half an hour, I was inside, I was warm! I have not spent a single night, cold, hungry or in pain since these wonderful humans kept their promise. They say that I am mostly healthy, and just need to take some medicine to try to get the cloud out of my eye, and to gain some weight, and then I can find a real family of my own!
At Wags and Whiskers' The Cat House, we do not discriminate against any animal based on their age, current health, or pre-existing medical condition(s). We are a dedicated team of volunteers, with a strong passion for animals and a very special bond with the injured, abused and abandoned. Due to the fact that we work so closely with qualified veterinarians, we are able, and willing, to take on the most complex medical cases to help give them the chance, that ever animal deserves, at a full, happy and healthy life. Our primary goal is giving hope to the hopeless; your adoption helps make a difference.
All of our cats are up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, FIV/FeLV tested, and will be spayed or neutered before being allowed to go home.
Unfortunately, we don't always know the background of each cat. Some were dumped, abandoned in an empty house, left in a box on the side of a road, picked up by animal control as strays, or simply unwanted by their owners.
