My story

　　Hi I’m Sasha! Before you walk away from me because I am a senior dog you should know my foster mom says I am one of the goodest girls she has ever fostered! Some people call me lazy, I like to think I am just on energy saving mode. I like to lay in bed or on the couch with my humans, taking short walks . I don’t mind sharing my humans so other dogs or cats in the home are ok! 

　　I had a home once upon a time, We used to play all the time when I was younger. They even did this thing to my ears to make me look really cool and show me off to all of their friends but eventually their life got really busy and I was forgotten about. Bakersfield animal control picked me up as a stray back in February and I sat all alone in a kennel waiting for my family to pick me up.  No one ever showed up for me or the hundreds of other dogs there. Space started to get really tight so Wags and Whiskers bailed me out before the shelter started euthanizing. 

　　I know I am older than the rest of the pups but the amount of love I have to offer is no less!

　　All of our pets are up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm tested if over 6 months old and will be spayed or neutered before being allowed to go home. 

　　Unfortunately, we don't always know the background of each dog. Some were dumped, abandoned in an empty house, left tied to a tree, picked up by animal control as strays, or simply unwanted by their owners. Please take into consideration that owning a pet is a 10+ year commitment and discuss with all members of your family before submitting an application to adopt. 

　　If you have already filled out an online adoption application with our organization in the last 6 months you do not need to fill out another application. Please call or email us to schedule an appointment.
