Sapphire is a spayed young adult, female grey tabby born around 9/20/22.
She was born in a dumpster with two siblings, one was rescued by a neighbor, the other lived outside the dumpster but disappeared before the rescuer could catch her. Sapphire i s very friendly toward all cats and dogs, however due to her submissive and sweet nature, she is being picked on by some of her foster brothers and is now kept in a separate part of the foster home. Prior to this separation, she would sleep in the bed with her foster caretaker every night, and would snuggle with the other cats or the house dog. She is a very active kitty, she likes to be on the move, so it can be hard to catch a non-blurry photo of her! She can be very spunky, and likes to be pet, particularly when she's sleepy, but she will run away if she's not feeling like being pet.
Sapphire's face stripes give her a unique look like she has 1920's droopy eyeliner. She likes to play with little cat toys that are fuzzy, and she likes to shred paper and cardboard, so she'll definitely need a scratching post in her new home. She can be very playful when she is confident of her surroundings, and would do best in a home that has very polite cats or no cats. Of her foster siblings, if she were to be adopted as a pair, the best option would be Brumhilda, but Sapphire is completely fine going as a solo cat. She is completely comfortable around cat-savvy dogs. Sapphire would love a new home of her own where she can blossom into a confident, playful kitty once more!
She has been exposed to feline calicivirus and feline herpes and is likely a carrier for these feline viruses which are contagious to other cats so the best home for Sapphire will be a home with someone who understands the possibility that she could have "breakouts"- however, in the year she has been with her foster, she has shown no outward symptoms of having these viruses.
Cats with feline herpes or calicivirus may exhibit symptoms or flareups ranging in severity, randomly or in times of stress throughout their life.
