Update: Sam (on the left) has remarried and is now available for adoption with another unreleasable Rock Pigeon named Slick. They prefer birds to people and would do best in an aviary.
UPDATE: Heartbreakingly, Lana had to be separated from Sam because of a cystic oviduct that required surgery. Despite their being separated, both are doing well and moving on- pigeons are brilliant at adapting to what life throws at them. Sam is currently single but he is dating!
Lana & Sam were rescued separately (about 10 years ago) and cared for by the nice man who found each of them. Neither was releasable (wing injuries made them poor flyers) and so he cared for them. They were kept in separate side-by-side cages and become a bonded, married couple living side by side, unable to touch. The first thing we did when they were surrendered to MickaCoo was to unite them and they were very happy and to finally be together. Their foster volunteer was really touched by how sweet and gentle they were. They're familiar with people but not particularly hand tame. Lana sometimes tips over and, once on her back, isn't always able to right herself and so, for that reason, is not a good candidate for life with other birds (except for her mate Sam). These lovebirds aren't asking for much but they would really appreciate having a home. Please apply to adopt /birds/apply-to-foster-or-adopt/
