Sam's story
Meet darling Sam. When Sam came to us he was in very poor shape and looks to have been neglected for a very long time. Now that he is in his loving foster home, he got a much-needed haircut, has put on weight, has seen a vet, he got his teeth cleaned, and his true sweet personality is coming out in the most wonderful of ways. We absolutely adore Sam, he is quite a charming little old man. He is estimated to be 13+ years old and he weighs around 11 lbs. Sam likes rides in the car, soft treats, and to sleep by your feet. He likes to be near his people but is decidedly not a lap dog. He is a great little buddy who would love to follow you around and be your best companion. Sam has special needs that need to be taken into consideration. He is deaf, nearly toothless, and has very limited vision. He is heart worm positive and the vet is treating it with 12 months of monthly heart worm prevention which we will provide to the adopter. His bloodwork came back very good and he is in fantastic shape considering what all he has been through.
None of these things slow him down, if anything at all it makes us love him even more! He is a lucky boy and he knows it by being a loyal and faithful friend to everyone he meets. He uses a belly band because at his age sometimes a fella dribbles without meaning to. He has a phenomenal sense of smell and will let you know if there are unexpected critters (like skunks) outside before you know they are there. Whoever adopts him will have such fun watching him enjoy the wonderful things that life has to offer as a beloved fur baby, which he very much deserves.
Sam is available to the Huntsville, Alabama area. If you feel you may be a good fit for Sam and would like to meet this charmer, fill out a non-binding application at forrescue.net and his foster mom will answer any questions you may have.
