Even though she arrived delivering her pups on a rainy day, the only thing Safari will bring into your life is sunshine. Safari is a 2 year old Labrador and Border Collie mix. Believe it or not, this medium-sized, 40-lb girl delivered 13 chubby healthy babies and cared for them like the super mom she is. Safari is done with her puppies now and ready to find a forever home of her own. Safari is such a good girl! She is fostered with several other dogs, old and young, and does well with all of them. She would ask that you have a canine sibling for her to play and snuggle with in your home - she is all about sharing the love. She's also very good about matching her play energy to her playmates. Safari takes a little patience and love (and treats!) to warm up to strangers at first, but give her a couple of peanut butter biscuits and she will be your new best friend. When you come home and let her out or when it's near dinnertime, when she's extra happy, she does a happy spin move and dances around you. She loves to follow you and has good recall. Safari is house trained with access to a backyard every few hours. She is not a big fan of her crate but is good about going in there when her foster mom and dad are at work for up to 9 hours. Safari does better with a plastic crate than the wire kind. She has also done well when left home alone outside of her crate for 1-2 hours with another well-behaved dog. She is very treat motivated and knows sit, down and wait. She also walks well on the leash and would enjoy a family that could take her on plenty of walks and maybe even a hike or two. She is not much of a jogging partner although she does enjoy her daily walk and running around with her canine foster siblings. She would love a trip to the local dog park or dog beach every now and then! Safari is very fast and she is learning how to play fetch; she likes chasing after tennis balls and soccer balls. At the same time, she loves curling up in her dog bed at your feet (or the couch with you if you let her) and is quiet with good house manners. Safari is great with kids - she is very polite and gentle with them - and she'd love a little boy or girl to sleep with at night. Safari is a sweet girl with lots of love to give.
