Sadie's story
Hi everybody! My name is Sadie, and I came here from Arkansas about a week ago. I'm probably a Rat Terrier/maybe a little JRT and a little spicy chihuahua all mixed up. I'm about 14 lbs. And 5yo (est BD 3/31/2013.)
We're not sure what we did wrong, but our family left me and my 3 fur friend siblings alone in a bedroom, and they moved away. Some really kind neighbors heard us barking and called the police and a rescue group. After just a short while I came to Colorado with EAPL. My foster mom says I'm 'drop dead gorgeous, and just an elegant little lady'. Whatever that means. I'm house trained, but I used to have a doggy door, so my foster mom has been working with me so I will tell her when I need to go out. I'm not a puppy any more, which I think is really nice for you - I don't chew on stuff, and I don't get into things you might have around your house. I don't really know what toys are, or what they do, but my foster dad has been working with me, so that I can learn how to play. I love going for walks (I'm still learning how to walk on a leash. My foster brothers and sister are helping me learn.) Actually, I love going anywhere with you! If you let me, I'll follow you around all day long. I really love curling up in your lap and taking a nap! I think that is my favorite thing ever! Or laying right in front of a fireplace or wood stove, or even a space heater!
My foster parents have been teaching me to 'sit' and 'stay' and 'down'. I haven't got it down perfectly yet, but I'm getting there. I didn't know what treats were when I got here, but I have learned that the bacon pieces for dogs are GREAT! I really don't like dry 'cookies', and I'm not sold on dry kibble. I like 'wet' food the best.
Hi, Vicky here. I'm Sadie's foster mom. This little girl is amazing. She sleeps in a crate at night, and when we have to leave the house, and she is a little angel. She doesn't chew the bedding, she sleeps the whole night through, and when we come back home, or when we get up in the morning, she waits patiently - and quietly - to be let out of her crate. She would be best with another small dog to play with, and somebody who is usually home with her. An 8-9 hour day alone would be too much for her. There is a little separation anxiety, which I believe is due to being abandoned. But I think she will work through it fairly quickly. So if you maybe work part time, or if you work from home, and you want a companion to lay at your feet while you are working, and then be ready for an adventure, this is your girl. Put in an application today!
