Rusty's story

　　Meet Rusty! Rusty is Chesapeake Bay Retriever Mix approx. 54 pounds, one year old and he is super sweet. Rusty has never been taught anything prior to coming into our program. He has a good amount of energy, but we would say he is more in the mid-range because he calms nicely. He does require plenty of exercise, discipline and consistency to achieve balance. He knows some basic cues and is learning to listen when called. He will definitely require a large fenced in yard whenever going outdoors to play. Rusty has all the right ingredients to become a wonderful companion dog. Rusty would enjoy one on one time, hiking, walking or just hanging out. He will continue to require obedience, patience and love as any young pup would. Rusty is already house broken and crate trained. Rusty is also learning to walk on a leash and will pull slightly at first out of excitement, but then does fine. He rides great in a car once he settles and is a quiet boy rarely do you hear him bark unless its for the right reasons. He is very affectionate, good around people and other dogs. We have not tested him around cats. He has not been around small children and even though we believe he would not hurt a fly Rusty maybe too rambunctious, too fast when running and a little to playful to be around young kids. Rusty would be fine around teenagers and ideal for young active adults. Rusty would do well with an active empty nester that needs a wonderful companion dog to enjoy life with and willing to spend time with a dog.
