RUMBLES's story
Rumbles was originally surrendered to the shelter about a year ago because his owners could not afford to care for him. Rumbles'' first owners reported that Rumbles had been trained as a `wheel dog` for mushing and did well with other dogs, was friendly with children and had been in a home with a cat. At the time of his initial surrender, Rumbles was accustomed to living primarily outside, but had been an indoor/outdoor dog part of the time with some house training under his belt.
Rumbles was most recently surrendered to the shelter because he was not getting along with the other male dog in the household, and was starting to behave inappropriately with the increasingly more active 1 year old child. Rumbles owners indicate that he is food aggressive with the other male dog and was also getting upset when the child would crawl near his food dish. Out of concern for everyones safety and well-being, Rumbles'' owners decided that it would be in his best interest to return to the shelter to seek a family without small children or babies and without other male dogs.
Rumbles is looking for an active family that may be interested in ski-joring (as he has prior experience) and would like a companion to accompany them on all of their adventures. Rumbles reportedly rides well in a car, is crate trained, and is now fully housebroken (he will howl at the door when he needs to go out). Rumbles would likely benefit from a refresher course in obedience classes, and is highly food motivated to learn tricks! Adequate exercise, and plenty of mental and physical stimulation will help this handsome fellow to be the best boy he can be!
