Rufus Nutter Butter's story

　　Didn't find the perfect match in time for Valentine's Day? No problem... Meet Rufus! Full name, Rufus Nutter Butter, is quite the catch! This handsome boy came to the Sacramento SPCA with a severe case of Demodex (a non-contagious form of mange). Upon arrival Rufus had barely any fur (we couldn't even tell what color he was!) and was suffering from red, swollen, flaky, itchy skin all over his body. After spending over a month in a foster home receiving treatment, Rufus looks like a totally new dog. This gorgeous fawn colored boy is more than ready to bring joy and happiness into your life!

　　Rufus is still very much a puppy so he would love to go home with someone who is prepared to deal with a large breed, high energy dog! He would benefit from regular exercise and mental stimulation in his home as well as training classes to continue his socialization and learn basic doggy manners. (Ask us about SSPCA's classes!) Rufus should also be kept on a high quality diet and regular flea preventative to keep his skin in tip top shape.

　　Rufus was raised in a foster home with other dogs and does great with them! Bring your dog(s) in to meet him! He doesn't have a history with cats, but may do well with a slow introduction. According to his Foster Parents, Rufus' favorite things are: rope toys, cuddles, and chew toys. Rufus is crate trained and has been doing very well with potty training. He is very eager to please and knows to take treats gently.
