3/17/2018: Rue was rescued from San Jose Animal Control after being found attacked by another animal. She has a femor fracture as well as wounds to both wings. She is the product of the dark side of pigeon racing. This "sport" is very dangerous, and Rue is proof of what often ends up happening to these poor birds that don't ever make it back home. She was lucky enough to be found alive. Many aren't that lucky. The owners were contacted and didn't want her back. They never want the "loser" birds back. So she is now in Palomacy's loving care, and currently resides at Medical Center for Birds undergoing an evaluation and treatment for her injuries. We don't know much about her/him yet, other than she is scared and in shock. Hopefully she will pull through and we will know more about her soon. Please apply to adopt /birds/apply-to-foster-or-adopt/
