Sadly, a previously modified for hi-fi Rotel RCD-970 BX player would not work after I purchased it from UK. It tries to spin a CD but it will not play and then the Error is shown. It looks like the laser would not come up/light up. The laser mechanism seems to engage, but would not fire up. All other functions seem to work. The supplied remote control Rotel RR-902 too, works fine with this player. The CD door opens and closes with no issues.I had purchase it with special modifications made by a pro shop in UK with hope of getting a super wide sonic stage. The modifications included the vacuum tubes (please see pictures) and a masterclock upgrade. I was told the player had a dac clocked directly and servo domain mode to get a very low jitter to achieve the wide sonic stage presentation with focused and accurate location of instruments. Unfortunately, I never got the player to work to realize these benefits, so it is sold for parts or repair. Please note the original UK 3-pin mains plug has been removed and will NOT be supplier, as the players has been rewired for the 110V (US). So, no power transformer is necessary to power it up. You will need to connect the US plug to the wires to then plug it into the US outlet. Alternatively, you may want to wire a new US power cord (with the US plug) directly into the power supply. The player has side panels that do not fully form seamless walls (please see pictures # 8 and 9). Cosmetically, the player is in a good condition, with top cover showing scratches and stains here and there.
