My name is Rosebud, I am available for adoption through Colorado Canine Rescue (CCR): a nonprofit dog rescue located in the Denver area. My vet and foster mom have guessed that I am around 1 year old and an American Staffordshire Terrier or pit bull-type dog. I came to the rescue after being confiscated in a town with breed specific legislation (BSL). I was caught by animal control after my dog friend and I got loose from our owners home. Since I am a pit bull-type dog, I will not be homed in any area with BSL, additionally, it is preferred that my new guardian owns his or her own home. 6-foot fence is a must.
I am a big puppy. I may weigh a little over 50 pounds, but I am a baby. I think I can sit on your lap and have affection all of the time. I am dog friendly, but shy with new dogs at first, I love playing with my foster siblings. I have shown minor on-leash reactivity, but I care more about making my person happy than woofing at other dogs. I walk great with a gentle leader. I like playful cats as well.
I am still learning this whole obedience thing. I mostly know sit and come, but I am willing to learn more. I need to be monitored so I do not eat things I should not (toys, small pieces of clothing, food off of the counter, etc). I like to rip beds up as well. I currently have old towels in my crate that I have only ripped a little. I am still working on potty training and doing really well.
My name is Rosebud because I am a beautiful, dainty girl. I am friendly but mellow when I meet new people. Not quite shy though, just somewhat reserved. I do not like being left at home alone. I would not do well with an owner who is gone for long periods of time. My foster mom comes home for lunch and I seem to be doing fine with that now. I have previously lived with children but my foster mom has not observed me interacting with children, so we cannot say for certain if we would be a good match. I do occasionally jump up so it may be best to live with older children or none. I also have not been around small mammals but I know I am not a fan of squirrels.
If you are interested in adopting Rosebud, please submit an application located on our website, We are asking for a $200.00 adoption donation. Rosebud is spayed, up to date on vaccinations and micro-chipped. Please note, CCR cannot guarantee the breed composition or ages of our dogs as we usually have no history prior to them entering the shelter. In addition, most dogs listed as potty trained will experience an adjustment period as they learn the routines in their new home. 4/23/18 12:09 AM
