My story
02/08/22 09:33 Rose was surrendered back to the shelter after arriving as a stray.
Rose had been run off by a moose from her owner's property and not come back- and her owners realized that she would likely do better in a different home as she was not compatible with their crowded household.
Rose's owners had several retired sled dogs and puppies in the household and Rose doesn't enjoy sharing her space or attention with the older dogs. Rose's owner did note that Rose is an absolute sweetheart with people and very affectionate and friendly.
Rose knows her mushing commands, LOVES to run, and would do well in a lead position, although she should be considered retired and would do best on a small recreational team or as a skijor companion.
Rose is not housebroken, per the most recent owner, and would need to be retrained to be an inside dog (her fur coat is too light to be comfortable as an outdoor-only dog). If you are the outdoor enthusiast that can harness this girl's fun and active personality, call the shelter today!12/17/21 This sweet and energetic gal is Rose! Rose was surrendered to the shelter with incomplete paperwork so we unfortunately don't know too much about her. Her previous owner did state that she was a previous lead dog on the sled dog team. Rose may be an excellent dog to help train a younger team or possibly would just enjoy joining a rec team! We think Rose has spent most of her life outdoors so adjusting to being an indoor dog may take a little work. However, she has done great at keeping her kennel accident free at the shelter! We do not know how Rose does with other animals so introductions should be done in a slow, safe, and controlled environment. Rose seems very playful with her doggy neighbors here at the shelter. If you have smaller critters at home please remember that Alaskan Huskies tend to have a higher prey drive so she may instinctively want to chase after them. We do not know how Rose does with smaller kiddos either. She has been very friendly with her animal tenders but does jump occasionally. Rose is looking for an active home to keep her both mentally and physically stimulated! Someone who can keep her running whether it be on a sled dog team, skiijoring, or just going for a run/walk! If Rose sounds like the girl for you please give the shelter a call because she would love to find her new forever home!
