Rolex Day-Date 40 228238-SLVRP Silver Roman Fluted Yellow Gold President 2016Brand: RolexSeries: Day-Date 40Gender: MaleCase Material: Yellow GoldCase Diameter: 40 mmDial: Analog Silver RomanBezel: Yellow Gold FlutedMovement: AutomaticClasp: Concealed Folding CrownclaspBracelet: Yellow GoldWater Resistant: 100 Meters (330 Feet)Notes: Welcome to Jaztime. Today we are going to be showing you a Oyster Perpetual Day-Date 40. This watch is 18-karat yellow gold with a silver Roman dial, particularly beautiful in the precious metals, and the first wristwatch in the world to ever display the day and the date of the week spelled out completely in a window on the dial back in 1956. So let's take a look at the case. True to its name, the Day-Date 40 has a 40-millimeter case in 18-karat yellow gold. That's the diameter. And it has a screw-down case back with a winding crown. As you can see from the way it glimmers in the light, has a fluted bezel, as opposed to it being smooth. And the winding crown uses a Twinlock double-waterproofness system to ensure that the watch retains water resistance to 100 meters. So you're going to want to make sure that the crown is nice and tight before you take it in the water, if you're going swimming or if you're jumping in the shower. The Day-Date 40 uses a 3255 caliber mechanical self-winding movement, and that actually allows bidirectional, self-winding and unrestricted rapid setting with a 40, excuse me, a 70-hour power reserve. If we look at the bracelet, also 18-karat yellow gold, it's what we refer to as a President band, a bracelet with semicircular three-piece links. If I bring it in, you can see that there's a beautiful mirror polish down the center with brush polish on the outer links. And for the deployment, we have Rolex's concealed folding Crownclasp that opens like this. Now finally, taking a closer look at the dial. You can't have a Day-Date watch without the day at the 12 o'clock position and the date at the 3 o'clock position. The hour markers are in 18-karat gold. They're raised, as you can see, and the hands at the center for the hours, the minutes, and the seconds, those are all 18-karat gold, and they're done in that to prevent tarnishing. The crystal is scratch-resistant sapphire, and you've got a Cyclops lens over the date to provide magnification for greater readability. Overall, I'm gonna show you what it looks like on the wrist. Now, this is a 40-millimeter, so it's going to look a little bit larger on a lady's wrist. But you get the overall effect of a yellow gold watch. It's truly stunning, and if you like the look of this watch, you think you might want to check it out for yourself, head over to jaztime.com.
