Ricky's story
Ricky is a big headed cutie who was rescued from the streets of LA! He can be shy at first, but he is extremely loving. He cries when you're not near him and spends a lot of his time chirping at you when you are. He loves head scratches and rolling around on his back. Despite his size, Ricky is very submissive to other cats so he would be fine in a multi cat household. He will need a little patience as you build his trust, but the payoff is worth it. Ricky does not like to be held, but he does love to be near you.
Ricky is FIV Positive. The feline immunodeficiency virus (FIV) is a retrovirus like the human immunodeficiency virus (HIV). Like HIV, FIV kills infection-fighting T-cells and weakens the immune system.
FIV is almost always transmitted through deep bite wounds. Mating and casual contact like snuggling doesnt spread the virus. Because of this, FIV cats can almost always live safely with Non-FIV cats. FIV is species-specific, which means that cats cant give humans FIV.
FIV-positive cats have been known to live 20 years or more with no symptoms of any severe disease. The only thing they might need that is different from other cats is prompt vet attention whenever they get sick.
