BIO:
Rex came from a small rural shelter in OH along with another dachshund, both turned in after the people got them and were going to breed them then decided against it. He was purchased as a puppy from a pet store in OH but we dont know how he ended up in the shelter in OH that we pulled him from. Rex is a friendly boy to both humans and other dogs. He loves being outside so the colder weather doesnt really bother him but he can go in and out as he chooses. Hes not real happy with a crate but is crate trained. Leash trained is going well but his next home would need to either continue to work with him on leash training or have a fenced in yard. He did lose a few teeth when he had his dental this week so hell be fed softened dog food until his gums heal then he should be able to go back to hard food again. He does however need to lose some weight (about 2 lbs) as he is a little on the fluffy side and wed like to see that nice defined waist for his health. I think Rex would enjoy having a fenced in yard more than always being walked on a leash. Im sure hed enjoy walks, he just loves being outside unless you are a very active family and take a lot of walks or have outdoor time. His picture sure doesnt do him justice, hes a beautiful deep red. If you think youd like to adopt this boy, please fill out an online adoption application today. Long hairs dont usually last long so he who hesitates
