--Restored 1953 BMW R51/3This bike in complete, rolling basket case condition and immediately started a ground up restoration. Five years later...the motor, transmission and final drive have been rebuilt with new seals, gaskets and bearings. The frame, center stand, wheels, hubs, brake leaver and lower legs were powder coated, the sheet metal was repaired where necessary, painted using a single stage gloss black and only the tank was striped. If a guy wanted to, he or she could easily stripe the fenders to make it more stock but I like her blacked out. The wheels and hubs were built by Buchanan's using polished spokes with mounted and balanced Metzler tires. The bike starts and runs very well and for a 500 she goes fast, 70mph with no problem, and don't be surprised when it stops on a dime. The half hubs are great, people say "they don't stop very well" BS.All numbers match and the original headstock tag is in great condition. --
