Restored early 1800s 7/8 violin or fiddle if you prefer. There is no label, but a lot of handwriting visible through the f hole: HARDWICK, MAY 28 (large capital letter) and more hard to read cursive writing. I am not sure if the name is of the maker or a later restorer's name. This is a quality handcrafted violin, excellent workmanship and quality tone woods throughout. The violin has been professionally restored. The antique look and most of the original varnish have been preserved. I do not see any cracks, open seams or old repairs. It has scuffs and nicks speaking of its long history, but they have been nicely touched up. The violin is structurally sound and is ready to play. It has rich and vibrant tone. I would recommend replacing the old strings with a quality new set; that will make it sound even better. Dimensions of the violin: overall length 22 and 3/4" body length 14 " and width 7 and 7/8" Returns accepted; buyer pays for return shipping.Happy New Year!
