Rene's story
Rene was recently brought to the shelter when she was found in a home with her daughter Poppy. Their owner was incarcerated so the dogs were left to fend for themselves for several weeks before someone came to check on things. Rene has survived a very sad and horrific life including being shot twice in the face (this was a very old injury we were told about and she's healed without any issues) she has very few teeth and the ones she does have are filed down, she is grossly underweight but yet remains as sweet as can be. Rene adores affection...she leans in for butt scratches and belly rubs. She truly just wants to be loved.
We are really hoping to find Rene a family who will love and cherish her and give her a wonderful life! Spend some time with her, it's hard not to fall in love! Rene is approx 8 years old. She is friendly with Poppy, but we are still learning if she is friendly with other dogs and cats.
At the shelter, we generally do not have the ability to test dogs with small children. If you have children in the family, please bring them in for a visit --it's the best way see if the dog w ould be a good fit for your family. Adoption applications are only processed after you visit the shelter and meet the dog in person and speak with one of our adoption counselors. The shelter is open Wednesday thru Friday from 1 to 7pm and Saturday from noon to 5pm. Please visit / adoption-process for more information. Email [email protected] with any questions.
