My story
Visit for more information or to fill out an application.Red is a super sweet and loving pup who is a couple years old. He was born on the reservation to Raven (also available for adoption) and was taken from her when he was a young puppy - once he had grown out of his small cute phase, the people who took him, tossed him out and left him to fend for himself. Our partner was able to catch him and he was able to come to rescue and learn about the good life! Red was previously adopted from us but was returned because he was "Too Protective" of his family. He has learned that not all people are bad, in fact - most of us are good and we have lots of love and belly rubs to provide to him! He adores attention and loves to learn new things - he's very smart! He is kennel trained, believed to be house trained (no accidents in foster), and has learned how to come when called, sit, and is working on stay down (no jumping) as he is still just so excited to meet people! He does pull on the leash some, but with a few reminders, he does eventually walk very nice. He does okay with baths, but he's not a fan of the water. His foster says he prefers to go into a self wash (with large tub and ability to tie) or have them done outside (which allows him to move around a bit more. They've been working with him to do them inside a normal bath tub, but he gets very nervous and panics. Red's also been working on his manners around children and does well - he can be a bit rambunctious at first, but he does calm down and do well with them with a bit of guidance from you. Red needs a firm hand and rules - he needs to know that his people will take care of any problems. He needs structure and routine as well as guidance from you when in new situations and meeting/greeting people. He previously did well with the inside cats - occasionally he may chase them, but if they don't run, and he doesn't bother them. The outside cats he's encountered he wants to chase (and they typically run - so Red thinks that's fun!). He does pretty good with most dogs with a SLOW introduction, but he tends to be more bossy - he seems to prefer the ladies attention or a mellow guys friendship vs the rambunctious/overly playful males. We do recommend he meets your current pups to ensure their personalities match!
