QUIN's story

　　Quin was surrendered to the shelter because his owner was deploying. According to his previous owner Quin is house trained, kennel trained, rides well in the car, and loves to play. Quin has not been socoialized very well and he is very fearful of new people and new situations. To tell you all about his anxiety, Quin will bark loudly and may appear intimidating, but he will warm up given time. Sometimes Quin needs to bark just to let off steam! Since he is worried about a wide variety of things at this stage in his life, please be mindful of neighbors (and your own noise limits) before adopting a loud and excitable dog like Quin.

　　Quins new owner will have to be skilled in the art of patience and positivity! If Quin has a panic attack, the best way to help him through it is to stay calm and set a good example. If he is worried about a new person or situation, for instance, giving him plenty of breaks (short walks, moving away from the ''scary'' thing and returning after a pause) and rewarding him when he makes good choices or works through his nervousness can teach him how to handle difficult scenarios. Dog obedience classes would definitely benefit Quin to help him work through his fears and help him see that the world doesn''t have to be so scary; not only will he be around new dogs and people, in a new place, but the instructors can give you cool tips to help him move past being frightened. Because we want to set Quin up for success, he cannot go to a home with children under 12 years, as he may become easily overwhelmed. Quin loves to play with other dogs, although he can be a bit rude and rambunctious for some dogs (mutual visits with other dogs in the home are always encouraged), and caution should be used if introducing Quin to cats or small animals, as he may not know about them and may chase or injure them. Quin is looking for a home that is excited to show him the world, and make him a partner for adventures!
