Pug - Nellie - Medium - Adult - Female - Dog

　　I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself, I am Nellie. My foster humans call me Nellie-Belly, which I like very much. I have been told that I am 5 years old, but we girls never keep track of that stuff. There is a rumor that I am a short pug?my response to this is, ?I am not short, I am concentrated awesome!?

　　My foster mom says that I am a chow hound, I will eat whatever food is left in the bowl, even if that bowl is not mine. I don?t get cranky if it?s taken away, but I don?t want to pass up a good food opportunity. On that food note, I am always willing to help out in the kitchen, whether it?s standing at the foster human?s feet to make sure no food goes to waste or to stick my head in the fridge whenever the door opens just to make sure everything is still where it should be, I am picture of the helpful pug. My love of all things food has made me a bit of a pudgy pug, so we are working on losing a pound or 2.

　　My foster family goes for a walk in the morning and a walk at night. My foster dad says that I am quite the little walker and assures me that when the weather cools down that I will like much longer walks then we can take during the summer. I have a bright pink harness and leash (that matches my pink collar with the glow in the dark paw prints) and I get so excited when I see it before the walks that I wiggle all around, making it difficult to get the harness on me.

　　I have 2 doggie foster siblings and I like them both, but I would rather spend time with my humans. I follow my foster mom from room to room, sometimes even from different locations in the same room. I enjoy sitting with her (or on her if I can) when she watches TV or works on the computer. She tells me that she looks around her feet to see where I am so that she doesn?t accidentally step on me. I think that?s really nice of her. I will stick with my foster dad if my foster mom is not available.

　　When the foster humans leave us puppies at home alone, I get to have the whole guest room to myself. We tried a crate when I first got here, but I wasn?t all that thrilled with it, so my foster parents gave me the room with the easy to clean floors, a futon (for my puggie lounging pleasure), a water bowl (a pug?s got to stay hydrated), a radio for my listening pleasure, and a kiddie gate. My foster parents tell me that I seem much less stressed when they come home if I stay in my room than if I am allowed the run of the house. I admit to a bit of separation anxiety which we are working on.

　　Although my true calling is couch potato, I do like to play. My favorite thing is to play with a stuffed toy that squeaks and that I can shake around. I like to involve my foster humans when I play. They will move it around for me so I can box with it, pull on it, and chase after it. My foster mom doesn?t think its fair that I will chase after the squeaky toy if she throws it but I won?t bring it back to her. I believe she calls this fetch.

　　My ideal forever family is one that will keep me at a perfect weight, give me quality food, and lots of quality time and attention.
