　　Hi there, what's your name? My name is Candace. Did you know that the meaning of Candace is "brilliantly white, glittering white"? Well, because APARN got a dental cleaning for me, that is what my teeth are! Brilliantly white, and I have fresh doggy breath for kisses. But that's not all APARN did for me. When I came to rescue, I limped pretty badly on my back right foot. The nice lady doctor took some xrays and it turned out my foot was fractured pretty badly. They put it in a soft cast and bandage and I was on strict crate rest for two weeks, but it was still not healing right. So APARN took me to another nice lady doctor, who fixed it for me! (The doctors said it is likely my foot was fractured due to having a door slammed on it.) The doctor also fixed my nostrils and airway so that I could breathe easier. So physically, I am doing pretty well. I have been on strict crate rest for almost three weeks since surgery. Now I get to come out and sit in foster mom's lap some, too.

　　Foster mom says I have some issues from my previous life. "Baggage" she calls it. I lived outside in a backyard, and foster mom is teaching me that pugs are supposed to live in the house. Sometimes she has to remind me that it is okay to come back inside after we go out to go potty. There are several other pugs here in my foster home, and I get along with everyone, boys and girls, young and old. I really just want to be with foster mom though. She promises me that no one will ever hurt me again.

　　I'm a really good girl, I sleep quietly in my crate at night, and will wait for you to come let me out. I have not had one accident in the house! I go always outside to go potty.

　　Foster mom is working with me on receiving attention. I never really got much before, so I get really excited when someone talks to me and gives me attention, and I get all wiggly! Foster mom says I tend to "lunge" at her face to try to give kisses, and as you might have noticed, my teeth kinda stick out, so sometimes they poke her in the face accidentally. She says that I should not live with kids because I might scare them. But like I said, she is working with me on that.

　　I have to go back to the doctor for xrays on my foot at 8 weeks post-surgery. Foster mom says if someone wants to adopt me before that time, APARN will pay for my follow up visit!
