This JW York & Sons B flat/ A Shepherd Crock Cornet belongs to our master Band Instrument Technician; why there is still Music education in our small county and surrounding ones- The instrument was redone, an extra slide added after it needed help. All the workings have been seen to, felting, oiling and the like. Ready to bring the voice of the day.York Instruments began in 1882 in Grand Rapids MI where they specialized in Cornets and Trombones. The serial number on this one indicates it was built the last year before James Warren York retired to California in 1917. I can't blame him.Case velvet shows its age, but who doesn't? Wonderful instrument, tooled with the floral motif and gold plated around.
