My story
!PRINCESS IS URGENT! Meet Princess (A484717)! She`s an older german shepherd-type mix who has clearly had a very hard life but she hasn`t let that keep her down. Her body and teeth tell a story of being overbred and likely living on a chain so she`s looking for someone who can provide her with plenty of TLC. She came into HAS pretty underweight but is filling out nicely, and the hair on her lower back has been filling in too. She has started to get more frustrated in her kennel recently which puts off adopters, but once you get her out she`s friendly, good with other dogs, enjoys walks, and LOVES food more than anything. Princess has been at the shelter since August 31st and is our longest stay resident! She walked well on-leash for me today, not paying attention to a small puppy that we passed in the lobby, and not pulling too much on her leash. She was a concerned about loud cars as they passed us, but she didn`t get distracted by other people or dogs, and a great job of checking in with me when I slowed down my pace. She liked taking some time to hang out and watch keep an eye on the play areas after she had a chance to sniff around on a mini-hike. She knows how to sit and will be a very quick learner based on how food-motivated she is.Princess would be great for anyone looking for a family dog with or without other dogs. She is happy to be around other dogs but prefers to do her own thing so she probably won`t be the type to wrestle for hours on end. She`s still young enough to have a lot of pep in her step so she`d make a great hiking buddy too. Come give this girl a chance!
