Pretty Border Collie Young - Adoption, Rescue
Pretty Border Collie Young - Adoption, Rescue
Oct 21, 2024
Description

Pretty is about 2.5-3 years old, and she is a Border Collie and Formosan Mountain Dog Mix from the country of Taiwan.

She weighs 37 pounds (as of 3/22/2018) and is fully grown.

  Prettys rescued story:

In a hot summer Pretty appeared in a mountain where many family pets were dumped and being left to die without food and water.

A young couple have been devoted themselves in TNR (Trap, Neutered, Release) stray dogs for years there, when Pretty saw them, she was submissively approaching them and let them put the leash on her.

The rescuers brought Pretty to get spayed and planned to release her a week late when she was recovery from spaying.

However, on the day of bringing Pretty back to the mountain, the rescuers were struggling to release her because Pretty was sweet and friendly, they worried that Pretty might be harmed easily in the mountain where people were usually not nice to stray dogs and poisoned the dogs very often.

  Prettys completed medical information:

Luckily Pretty was a healthy young dog except for underweight. She has received the following medical tests and an x-ray on her hips and joints as a routine test: Distemper test, 4 Idexx (Heartworm, Lyme, Ehrlichia, Anaplasma Phagocytophilum), CBC, Biochemistry blood work, and a PCR test for diseases and infections transmitted by fleas or ticks.

She was negative on all diseases and infections and does not have hip dysplasia either.

She will have teeth cleaned before coming to the US for adoption.

Pretty is spayed, de-wormed, up to date on all vaccinations including rabies shot. She is heartworm negative and on preventative treatment and is micro chipped. All Pretty's medical documents including x-rays films on her hips will be given to her adopter when she is adopted.

  Prettys temperaments and personality:

Pretty has been living with her rescuers and several rescued dogs and cats together, so her rescuer couple are also her foster parents.

They said that Pretty is a natural-born loving young dog.

Although Pretty has a part of Border Collie, she is not as energetic as this breed.

She likes to run and is outgoing while playing, but she also can be calm and likes to curl up on the floor next to her rescuers feet while she was working on computer.

Pretty will be good for a moderately active family who has older children.

Pretty is shy with strangers at first, but she is passionate and playful after she feels comfortable with the new people and new environment.

The rescuers said Pretty is very loving and likes attention. She likes to nuzzle peoples hand to want to be pet or to use her paw to gently scratch people for attention.

She also likes to turn her rear toward people to show her trust.

Pretty gets along very well with dogs of all sizes and especially likes cats.

She has been living with four cats for months and she would friendly sniff cats nose when the cat walks by.

She often shares her food with other dogs that she is familiar with.

Pretty loves going out for walks but is also alert to surroundings; she would stop walking if a stranger were to approach them.

Like many other dogs, Pretty does not like to go out when it rains either.

Pretty is very affectionate to the people whom she knows well.

She loves children, even children pull her ears, climb over her or take food or toys out of her mouth, she never gets upset but her body would freeze.

If children walk by her while she is playing with toy, she would drop the toy and want to play with the children.

Her foster mom said that between toys and people, Pretty loves people more.

Pretty does not chew furniture nor possessively chew certain objects but she sometimes chews papers, paper bags, pens or pencils.

She has not yet shown in favor of specific toys; she likes dental bones or durable dental treats.

She loves food and jumps up and down during feeding time, but when her rescuers eating their meal, Pretty is well-behaved and always patiently waits for them to give her a piece.

She is neither food nor toy aggression or possession toward both people and dogs.

Pretty does not like to be crated and would cry; she would be happier and doing much better with living in a confined area when people are not around.

She is not completely housebroken yet and would has a few accidents in a new environment.

She is great in car rides and also walks very well on the leash.

We hope that Prettys new parents will agree with us to include Pretty in your daily activities, taking Pretty for outings, watching your children's sport activities, doing one-day short trip, going to the beach, visiting friends or taking her on a short vacation, except for daily walks in neighborhood.

We wish Pretty can have opportunities with her new family to experience different parts of her life that she had missed before.

  Where is Pretty?

Pretty is currently in Taiwan and will be coming to the US in late April; she will be staying with our foster family in North Wilmington in Delaware after her arrival.

If you are seriously thinking of giving Pretty a loving permanent home, please email us for an application.

Because we do not have a shelter to show people our dogs and all our rescues are living with our foster family, we do not accept stop-by visits if you are interested in seeing our dogs.

Before meeting Pretty, the prospective adopter needs to fill out the application and gets approved.
