Porkchop Shepherd (Unknown Type) Puppy Male

Description

  My story

Porkchop is a sweet 4-5 month old beagle/small breed mix. From the past shelter: Hi I'm Porkchop! I am just a young guy who just wants to be loved and cuddled!! I look like a shepherd puppy, but I actually am starting to get all my big boy teeth! This means I won't get too big, I am a permapup! (permanently puppy) When I came into the New Mexico shelter, My eye was hurting and I wasn't feeling well. After these nice people gave me some medicine and love I started feeling much better! Now I am ready to be the perfect little playful pup in someone's home!! The people here tell me I am sooo cute, even with my healing corneal ulcer (I can see out of it just fine now!) From his foster: Porkchop is a typical puppy, our day is a constant rotation of eating, playing, pottying, and sleeping. He already knows how to play fetch, which is a great way to wear him out! He also likes to play tug of war. Were working on learning basic commands but luckily he is small and has a sweet temperament so not knowing his commands isnt too much of a hassle. He also has pretty good recall already. He doesnt know his name yet but will always come to a whistle or some words of encouragement. Porkchop is still learning how to be house trained - he still tinkles inside but has never gone number two inside. He always urinates and defecates when I take him outside so he is definitely learning! Just keep up his training for a couple weeks and I bet he will have it down. Dont be surprised if he urinates inside the first few days, he is still just a puppy after all! Its not too hard to supervise him though because he loves to follow me room to room and always be in my presence.Porkchop likes to take sleep near his humans! During the day I let him sleep on my bed or couch near me while I do chores or computer work, and he often cuddles. He is such a silly sleeper, he rolls from side to side with his belly exposed and his big floppy ears fully open!At night though I crated him so he wouldnt pee around my bedroom while I slept. He cried at first but I stuck my hand in the crate to let him know he wasnt alone and he fell asleep in a matter of minutes. He woke up a few times crying in the night and I just gave him my hand each time until he fell back asleep. Honestly, pretty good sleep for a puppy being crated alone. If you do this continuously, he will eventually feel more comfortable and confident being crated by himself and will need less and less reassurance. Porkchop still tries to chew a few things around my house that hes not supposed to, but hes not as bad as some puppies that will put anything and everything in their mouths. Definitely keep him under constant supervision in any room that is not puppy proofed. He seems to have a thing for chargers and electrical cords which could be dangerous if it was plugged in (I caught him trying to chew a plugged in lamp cord and then a cell phone charger).Porkchop will definitely vocalize when he wants something including getting on and off furniture that is too tall for him or if he is left alone. You can probably train him to not speak as much to a degree, but be wary if you live in an apartment and have to leave him alone sometimes.Overall Porkchop is a silly, sweet pup who just needs someone to follow up on the training he never received when he was a younger puppy. He really likes his humans so Im sure he will be eager to please! This sweet boy will be available at our adoption event this coming Saturday at the Fort Collins Petco 2211 S. College Ave from 10am-1pm. If you are interested in this sweet boy, please submit an application through our website aaanimalrescue.org. Please feel free to email with any questions [email protected] and size disclosure: As a rescue all of our dogs come to us from high-kill shelters or other rescues, so we do not get a lot of background or information on these dogs. We occasionally receive the mother with the puppies, but in most cases both parents are unknown. Because of this we do not know the full breeding of the dogs. We are required to list the dogs based on the breeds provided to us on their records, but they are all mixed breeds as far as we know, and we cannot guarantee the actual breeds of any of these dogs. Since the full breeding of the dogs is unknown we can also only give you an educated guess on the full-grown size of the dogs. All of the current information we have on the dogs is listed in their bio above. More information may be available at our adoption event, since a lot of the fosters turn in report cards on how the dog has done in their care when they drop them off. Adoption Process: If you are interested in adopting from us, the first step of our adoption process is to fill out an application online at http://aaanimalrescue.org/adoption_app.html. It takes us 24-48 hours to process your application and get back to you, via email. Applications turned in Friday afternoon or Saturday morning will not be processed since we are preparing for or at our adoption event. We do have applications on site at our events, but are not always able to approve them at that time and many of the dogs will already have holds on them, so we suggest you fill out an application prior to attending an adoption event. We can place a hold on one dog per approved applicant after a deposit fee has been received, please do not ask to hold a dog if you have not turned in an application and been approved, for the first hour of our adoption event, so that they can get the first chance to meet and hopefully adopt that dog. After the first hour of the event all dogs are available on a first come, first serve basis. If you already have an approved application on file, there will just be more paperwork and the adoption fee at the event, but you will be able to take home the dog/puppy that day. Since we are foster based and do not have a location, our dogs are only available to meet at our events, unless otherwise noted.
