Popeye's story
Popeye and Olive Oyl came into our facility because one of the dogs in the home was very cat aggressive and the owners were worried for their safety. During Popeyes exam, he was wiggly for restraint and wanted to get off the exam table. He was uncertain of his surroundings but he did respond positively to petting. Popeye and Olive Oyl have primarily lived with adult men and women for the duration of their life. They do have experience with visiting children with the ages of 6, 10, and teen years. Due to their shy behavior we recommend older, calm children. They have positive and negative experience with dogs. In the home there were multiple dogs; one dog was familiar with cats and the cats did well with them; the other was cat aggressive. For cat experience, the two have done well together but there is no history with other cats. We recommend 3-6 months for Popeye and Olive Oyl to become fully adjusted to their new home. When introducing them to dogs, cats, or children in the home, please go slow.
