My story
Meet Phaedra. Phaedra is a 5 year old spayed female Siberian Husky. She is not papered, but is up to date on her vaccinations, and has had one litter of puppies. Phaedra has been a part of our family for 4 years, and spends most of her days bouncing around, chasing and (what we call) dragon wrestling with her 3 year old
german shepard daughter in our yard. She is a ball of energy, as is the typical husky, talkative, sweet and cuddly. Family is important to us, and our fur family is no different. Now, for our saddening reason that we are rehoming her: Approx 3 weeks ago, she attacked one of our new kittens. This kitten survived because we were able to intervene in time. A little over a week ago, my precious 6 year old calico cat went missing. This past Saturday, we came home to find kitten number 2 dead by dog mauling. Yesterday, my brother went crawling underneath our house and came out with my calicos remains. Phaedra has always been stalky with the cats. My calico operated daily in avoidance of her, and Phaedra chased her whenever possible. We actually had another cat move out of our house and in with a neighbor due to her stalking behavior. We did have safety protocols in place to keep the cats safe, but long story short, they failed very suddenly. I cannot speculate as to why it seems that she also suddenly developed a stronger prey drive than before. This is a very sad situation for our household. The love I have held for this dog and the understanding of instinctual prey drive is what is compelling me to seek out a new home for her that I can have faith that she will be loved just the way that she is. I cant even look at her right now, but I know she deserves a loving home. *****A prospective family would need to be committed to having no small pets, obviously cats, but also bunnies, guinea pigs, chickens (she totally decimated our flock of chickens a couple years ago), ferrets, etc. ***** Phaedra has been rehomed once before, when she came to our family. I absolutely hate this, but we have children that I cannot risk exposing to further unnecessary trauma. That said, she is accustomed to and has done well with our children, our youngest having been 5 when Phaedra came to us. We are willing to travel to bring her to her new home, but ****a family would need to demonstrate a suitable home environment and ability to financially provide for her grain-free diet and volume of food consumption (holy cow, this girl is a lunatic at meal time). Rehoming fee negotiable, and to be requested only as means to determine financial capacity to provide proper care **** This dog is rather peculiar and has some unique needs. Serious inquiries can request further information, and we can teach you much more about her in a more personal interaction. My name is Jen Small, and I am using my husbands profile to utilize the FB pages as I do not myself have FB. I would prefer to interact with prospective families in a meaningful way, through video chat if possible? We can discuss how this can happen. My preferred means of contact would be by phone at .
