Meet Penelope!
Special notes :
Feline Immunodeficiency Virus positive - FIV (+)
PENELOPE:
Penelope is Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) positive, but don't let that stop you from considering this sweet, petite gal with mesmerizing, copper colored eyes! Cats with FIV appear and act like normal cats. They just have a more sensitive immune system if exposed to other cats who are sick. FIV is primarily transmitted through severe bite wounds from an infected cat. Non-aggressive contact such as sharing water bowls or mutual grooming does NOT spread the virus. Penelope can live with other cats in households with stable, social structures where the cats do not fight and thus are at little risk of getting FIV; FIV cannot be transmitted to humans or dogs.
SO, Who’s Penelope you ask ?
Well, Pen is a petite, brown/white tabby who was rescued from the streets of Ensenada, Mexico.
When she was rescued, her finder thought she was a kitten/teen since she was closer to 5 pounds. When we took her in and transported her to San Diego, we realized that little Mamasita was actually a full grown adult probably 1yr old! Since she’s been with us for a while, she’s probably now closer to 2yrs old and is full grown at 7-8 pounds.
When in her previous foster home in the past, her foster had this to say about her: She is not shy and enjoys meeting new people in her foster home. She liked to follow her foster dad around and race him into whatever room he is walking into and is very energetic. Her favorite toy is, of course, the laser pointer! Penelope also enjoys doing "zoomies" and finding new nooks to climb into and explore. When it's bedtime, she likes to snuggle up against you or your legs. She loves head and chin scritches, but can get a little mouthy and give you love bites (not hard ones, though) when you pet her. She is a bit of a "tomboy" and tends to be a little sassy and doesn't enjoy being picked up and carried around. She is very sweet, though, but it's important to understand her body language as she sometimes ramps up her sassiness. She, like all of our rescues, is spayed, microchipped and UTD on all medical. She’s such a healthy and full of life, strong and active kitty that sometimes we forget she’s an adult and not a kitten as you can see from the pictures her foster sister “Olive” a senior, adorable greyhound who has been putting up with A LOT since Penelope came to her home to be fostered. Penelope just keeps popping out of nowhere !!!! (See pics)
Penelope has been fostered in the past with a couple of kitties and she also has been fostered as an only pet in the home and we can say she would do well in any family set up, such as a single working adult or family with children, BUT the biggest requirement for her forever dream home is be well matched is a home whree kitty shenanigans are enjoyed because this girl will absolutely make you laugh with her weird and funny antics!!! Her adopter must have a cat tree and lots, and lots of toys! Are you ready to meet this very special young lady? Purrfect
