Otis and his sister, Ocala, love to play and particularly like little mice toys and laser toy time daily. They almost never meow but do chirping and other noises with each other, at playtime, and as greetings for their people. Otis does this adorable head tilt when he is trying to figure out a toy or something new. It is hard not to laugh, for which he will look at you quizzically. Otis is a little more outgoing than his sister, but often follows her lead and likes to scope out the details from a safe hiding spot until he feels comfortable. He will also stand on something like a couch and reach up with his paws, walk onto my back when I am scooping litter boxes, or put his paw on me when he wants attention. He loves to sit in a safe windowsill and watch things outdoors when the weather is nice. Again I have to laugh because he just doesn't understand I am the same person when I talk to him through the window from outdoors and his eyes get as big as saucers. Otis and Ocala were rescued as older kittens from under a farm shed. Likely they were born at a horse farm next door. The rescuing farm owner was worried their dogs would hurt the kittens as they began to venture around the property. They have come a very long way with socialization and have turned into beautiful cats with fun purrsonalities. It is really important Otis and Ocala be adopted together as they are quite attached to one another. They are approximately 1 1/2 years old.
They thoroughly enjoy canned food; the bits and gravy style. They eat a small amount of supplemental free choice dry food and the veterinarian said they should not gain any additional weight for optimum health. Canned food is important for moisture intake and Save Our Strays encourages feeding canned food.
