This is for an Orpheus 4 string Tenor Banjo.
It came with a house we bought in 1995 and has rarely been played since.
Do not know age.It is a resonator model.
Resonator is approx. 12-5/8” OD.
Resonator is not flat on the either side.
Believe the back side is supposed to be domed, unsure about the open side.
Binding looks good. Neck looks ok, straight and not twisted, although it does look a little tilted down toward the bass side by about 0.020”.
19 frets show little wear.
Scale length is 23-1/8”.
Head has Decal saying “ORPHEUS’ and ‘MADE IN U.S.A.” under that is small letters.
Stamped inside are 6522. Screw that supports tailpiece is canted and looks bent in the longitudinal direction and head of screw appears to have been filed on.
I’m guessing it is a replacement as it is not plated while
the 12 J bolts are.
Tailpiece shows some tarnish. Tuners look ok but need work or replacement as the A string won’t stay in tune.
Bridge is a ½” high Grover.
The up side of the neck at the heel has a small pinhole.
I have no idea why it is there.
Stand in picture is not included.
