My story
Hi, my name is Mr G, and I am a fluff butt LOVE BUG. I was very sad last year but back to my happy go lucky super smart self, minus about 30 pounds! I just turned 10 years old on Dec 3 and I am looking for the perfect someone to love and cuddle! I am a neutered O/W male, 51 #’s, UTD on vaccines, HW neg and on HW/FT Prevention. I am housebroken and looking for that perfect forever couch and lap to land on for my Happy New Year’s wish.
My Story: I was loved and named by my boy, Greg, when I was just a puppy. He had downs syndrome and named me Mr G. I think it’s a great name! Greg and his Gramma took wonderful care of me, and I went everywhere with them. Then, my boy died, and Gramma had dementia. I was fed too much and got into a lot of mischief, my weight went to 82 lbs and I ate a loofa sponge and had to have surgery. Sometimes they forgot to give me my monthly medicines or gave them to my more than once and I got into troubles from that too. I ended up with Ehrlichia and had big fatty things all over me! Gramma was really sick a lot and I was in and out of my vet for boarding and care. I had lots of caregivers when Gramma was sick. I loved to lay next to her and sleep in the bed with her. My caregivers worked on my weight and diet, and I started losing weight. When Gramma died her Trust reached out to NBRAN to help me.
Foster Mom: Mr G is a lover boy! He’s funny, smart, and surprisingly agile and mobile for everything he’s been through. His demeanor is slightly submissive and definitely not an alpha. He is your typical “class clown” and constantly has us laughing at his antics. He will chomp a stuffed toy but will allow you to take it away while giving you the most hurt look ever! He LOVES toys (but has to be supervised to make sure he doesn’t eat them), gets along with everyone, People, Dogs, and even Cats. He HAS chased our kitties but never tried to harm them. Mr G dances when he sees his harness and lead and LOVES to walk (and run) in the yard. We’re currently walking several times a day either on our acreage or on a lead. He’s currently in a 4-foot chain link fence and never tries to crawl or climb over it. Mr G has learned to become part of a “pack” and is now running with them. He’s content to play with his “non-stuffed” toys and balls. He has some basic manners and is completely potty trained and good in the house. He sleeps on a dog bed next to our bed but would love to sleep with his person.
His perfect family: Mr G would love a 4-legged easy-going playmate to continue teaching him how to play in a pack but would do fine with lots of human companionship too as a single dog. He needs someone to continue to keep him active, watch his diet and keep him from eating stuffed toys, loofa sponges and toilet paper! Ideally, Mr G’s new family would be someone that was either retired or works from home so he can be as close to you as possible with a physical fenced in yard.
Medical Note: Mr G tested positive for Ehrlichia has been treated and platelets are great. Mr G had numerous “lumps and bumps” removed (all benign) and his coat is still growing back at the surgery sites. He has a few small lumps left but nothing the vet thought needed removing or impairment to his health or adoption. He does need a monthly Adequan injection, for his arthritis, that is low cost.
