Odie (formerly Alex)'s story
Hello my name is Odie!
I am definitely larger than your average beagle! My foster parents think I am a fox hound/Walker hound mix. I am a big boy, but I still think I am a lap dog. I love my people and have tons of energy so I need a home with a very active family.
I go on long walks, my foster dad rides his bike and I keep up along side him on my leash - we go a couple miles a day or more if you let me! I also love to retrieve and chew on my Kong. I am only a year old so I am still learning. I love to play, but the other dogs I live with are older and they don't like to play with me.
I know how to use the dog door and am quite the hunter. I catch birds that are in the back yard, I have a super prey drive so I need people who are familiar with what hounds do and don't freak out when they find me with a gift for them. I don't think it is a good idea for me to be in a home with older dogs and small children because I get real excited and jump up on people and other dogs. I can easily knock small children down and annoy the older pets. My fosters are trying to break me of the jumping, but it is a work in progress.
I love to chew and can easily reach your table tops, counter tops, and can even reach items in your sink. I am a really lovable guy, and I know if you give me a chance you will fall in love with me. Even as big as I am I sleep with my foster parents and lounge with them on the couch when I have burnt off my energy and just want to relax... My foster dad says I have two speeds - run and sleep!
Do you think you will be the one who will give me my furever home?
Hope to meet you soon,
Odie
