Partner, can you lend a hand and save a unique piece of history from the landfill? In 2000, Richard Jones rowed this custom rowboat across the Atlantic Ocean, from the Canary Islands to Miami, Florida, a distance of some 4,000 miles. He was at sea for four months, becoming the first American to row across the Atlantic Ocean, and at the time, the oldest person to do so. He was 60. Since then the boat has been in storage. When Richard passes away, the storage unit will cease to exist and his children will have to dispose of the boat. Ideally, the boat belongs in a museum, but doubting that that will happen, the family is looking for a business with a lobby, or showroom large enough to display the boat to the public. The boat is 29' long, 4' wide and 5' high. Richard didn't quite make it to Miami. He lost his rudder 1,500 miles from Miami, and was eventually shipwrecked on a small island in the Bahamas, from which he and his boat were rescued by a passing freighter that carried him to Nassau. If you're in a position to save the boat from the landfill, please do so.
