I have a red North Face Badlands frame knapsack in a guys's medium size. It fits from a smaller sized medium to larger than anticipated and has an extremely good amount of packing space although I'm not sure of the exact square inch measurement. I would state that it would probably make a great 3-day knapsack as much as light week-long trips.
