MURPHY's story
Murphy was surrendered to the shelter with his brother, Gunner, due to the previous owner having a baby and not enough time or strength to handle both dogs. According to the previous owners, Murphy is housebroken (whines) is kennel trained and rides well in the car. The previous owners also say that Murphy is used to living in a fenced yard and loves to play with his brother, but has never been around other dogs, cats or children. Due to his size and lack of manners a home with babies/small children would not be ideal. Gunner has not had any formal training and lacks in the manners department, his new owners should take him to obedience classes to help teach him how to properly greet people and develop good house manners. Murphy is also a very high energy breed and will need more than just a walk daily; he will need both physical and mental stimulation every day to avoid bad habits such as being destructive and vocal in his new home! It is also recommended that potential adopters with dog(s) bring them in for mutual visits before adoption.
Murphy was returned to the shelter because he is aggresively protective of his yard and home. Murphy needs a family who will provide him an extreme amount of exercise(physical and mental) so he is not destructive in the home. Due to his size and lack of manners a home with babies/small children would not be ideal. He does not get along with all dogs so if you have other dogs in the home and want to add Murphy to your family a mutal visit before adoption is a MUST! He is a loving boy who aims to please but needs basic manners taught and would do best if taken to classes at a training facility.
