Misty's story
** Misty is currently being fostered in Houston
meaning meeting her prior to her adoption will not be possible. Her adoption donation is $450USD
this includes her flight home, a new kennel, and she has been vetted appropriate to her age. Because she is too young to be spayed, adopters will sign a contract agreeing to have her spayed once the vet determines she is old/big enough. Because flights are so expensive, the adoption fee is non-negotiable. **
Little Misty came to us when her momma surprised us with 12 PUPPIES just weeks after being rescued from the streets. The puppies have lived great lives in a foster home with lots of attention and love. Now its time to find our 12-pack their forever lives!
Misty is a Lab/Pointer mix, meaning she will likely be a good mid-sized dog in the 60-pound range when fully grown. She will be an ACTIVE dog while she continues to grow and an active and smart adult. She would be best suited for a family that can commit to consistently getting her proper exercise and socialization. She will be great running, hiking, adventure buddies for the right family.
Misty currently lives with other dogs and loves having playmates. She would be great as an addition to a family with other dogs or as a single gal as long as her family commits to ongoing socialization. She has not been tested with cats, but given her age and general disposition, we think she would be fine with a kitty companion. She currently lives with two kids and is very used to being loved on and played with by little humans. She would be a good companion for a family with children that have been taught to be respectful of animals.
She is still a small little gal, so she will need a lot of positive guidance as she continues to grow and develop into an amazing family companion. She is a young puppy, so her family will need to understand and be committed to all of the challenges that come with a young pup, including potty training, chewing, kennel training, and separation anxiety that could be caused by leaving her pack.
The best suited family will be one that understands that dogs can take time to acclimate to their new homes - which will likely include having accidents, crying in their kennel, and chewing on things they are not supposed to. Misty will be best suited for a family that can provide her with patience and positive reinforcement as she grows.
We expect our dogs to be adopted by families who plan to keep them as indoor pets and part of the family. We do not adopt to families who plan to keep dogs outside for an extended period of time, for example the entire workday.
Misty is one of the happiest, fattest little loves you could meet. She is very healthy and has been well cared for by her foster home. By the time she is ready to fly home after her second round of shots (after 3/18) she will have had two rounds of vaccinations, been dewormed, and microchipped. Her adoptive family will sign a contract agreeing to have her spayed once their primary vet deems her old/big enough
not following through with the spay will be considered a breach of the adoption contract.
