The prodigal bike returns!
I was called today by the folks at Downtown Pawn who saw my advertisement shared by means of Facebook. My fianc and I hiked over to the shop and quickly saw my bike, undamaged (Rilo Kiley sticker label and all) sitting in the back amongst a slew of kids's bikes. The individual who pawned it doinged this under her own name, getting only $20, at a shop where she is a routine client.
I wish to take a this opportunity to thank the Quad Cities community. Without your aid through social networks, my bike would have been a goner. Because you all took the time to share my story, my precious little cruiser found her way back home securely. To those who emailed offering their sympathies and peace of minds, thank you for your compassion. To those who offers their own bikes to me, thank you for your kindness. To those who provided to purchase me a replacement, thank you for your kindness.
Despite a painful first week in Davenport, I feel so fortunate to have actually transferred to a community whose citizens defend those who are downtrodden. You all have actually made me feel genuinely welcomed, and I know that the bad apples are far exceeded by the excellent.
Thank you all so much, and I guarantee to pay your kindness forward.
