This anvil was recuperated in an old barn that was being taken down. It is about 15 inches long and 6 inches high and weighs in the community of 50 lbs. It can still be utilized as an anvil as the top and horn are fine but one of the bolt holes was broken off and the opposing end of the horn that may have had a vise on it is long gone. It is a little piece of Western Massachusetts history that I would think was made use of by a very early piping fitter as there are 2 rings with set screws on the back side of the anvil to hold a length and set of pipe. (One of the set screws has broken off.).
The patent date of 1879 tells me that this anvil has seen it's reasonable share of work.
