Guitar by Miguel Sevillano (first of the Sevillanos in Tijuana, Mexico). Hand made by the luthier. Possibly from the 1950's. Solid mahogany back and sides, rosewood fingerboard, solid spruce top. Full size, very light weight, with a very slightly arched back (see pic). Total length 39 1/2". String speaking length (vibrating length from saddle to nut edge) 25" 5/8. Body length 19 1/2. Widest bout 14" 5/8. Width of neck 2" at nut, 2 1/4" at 12th fret. The bracing pattern under the top is Sevillano's own - which has the typical cross brace behind the sound hole and a cross brace just behind the bridge (parallel to the bridge.). Then there is one centered long-ways brace from the sound hole brace all the way to the back block. There is no fan bracing beyond the brace behind the bridge, only two diagonal braces from the sound hole passing the ends of the bridge to the brace behind the bridge. In all only 5 braces after the sound hole. There is also a rounded reinforcement under the rosette, from the back of sound hole brace to the neck side brace. This pattern is seen nowhere else and works extremely well, carrying the sound well to the sides and back.Guitars by Miguel Sevillano are scarce - the son has a large production from Tijuana. The guitar is exactly the same weight, 2 lb 1.2 oz, as Miguel Sevillano's rosewood and ebony guitars. In very good playing condition. The action is medium-low. Minor faults are: there are some dings and scratches; the left side was cracked and well repaired (see last pic); there is a split near the bass side tuners that was repaired; the bone saddle is in two pieces, with one piece alone for the high e string - does not affect the tone or volume. The guitar is strung using a wound G string that contributes nicely to the sound. The sound has very good volume and sustain. With the light total weight, the slight arched back, and solid woods, this guitar is a prize for its type. Ship to US only.
