The majority of the dogs we rescue, mostly breeder dogs, have lived their entire lives in less than ideal conditions so will need to be house and leash trained. Most have never lived in house, walked on a leash, had a treat or sat in a lap. For many of them, their feet have never touched the ground after living for years on wire until they arrive at our main facility where they are evaluated, groomed and given vet care. However, they will learn with time, love, patience and most of all, commitment. You must have an ample supply of all of these to reap the rewards of watching these very special dogs become your wonderful companion.
Hi, my name is Mia and I am a 2 year old, 4.3 pound poodle Maltese mix and I came from a very bad place. My owner had me in the backyard with 21 other dogs and he was arrested and sent to jail for an unrelated crime and left us all alone for 2 weeks with no food or water. Nice neighbors were trying to get help, feeding and and doing all they could to keep us alive. Help finally arrived and we ended up at the scary shelter. Some of my friends didn't make it but I was lucky to go to a foster home where I have been thriving. Due to severe neglect, I had to have my right front leg amputated and my back right leg has an old fracture that was never treated so I run and walk a bit funny but it just adds to my personality and charm. Please have grass or fake grass in my new home as this has helped me tremendously with my ability to run, get traction and gain some much needed muscle tone. I don't do too well on tile and outside rock yet but with time and patience, I will be just fine. My foster mom makes me exercise on the grass several times a day and I can run like the wind. I love my humans, toys, car rides, your lap and your bed. I am quiet and love to give you kisses. I must have a stay at home parent and one other playful, submissive small dog in the home would be fun. I lived with lots of other dogs in the past and don't care to live with multiples in my new home. I am looking for an extra special home with no kids; grand-kids that visit are great. I am enjoying all the lap and cuddle time that I have missed out on in my first two years. Please ask for me on your application to
