Much loved and long out of print, Metropolitan Cats is one of the most beautiful collections of cat-themed art ever published. Works were selected from the Metropolitan Museum of Art and range from Egyptian tomb frescoes to medieval illuminations to American primitive folk portraits to Japanese woodblocks to Dutch tiles to Louis XV French upholstery to Impressionist paintings. The artists represented are just as diverse: Dor, Steinlein, Calder, Hiroshige, Goya, Eakins, Toulouse-Lautrec, and Renoir, among others. Must-have for cat lovers.
Very good condition overall. Dust jacket: light shelf wear and scuffing, foxing and toning inside top. Cover: light fading along top of boards. Book: toning along page edges. Slight manufacturing defect along sewn-in binding on a few pages, inside otherwise excellent.
