Description: Up for bid is a rare original blues player piano roll from my private collection. The fantastic Edythe Baker plays "Jazz Band Blues"
by African-American composer James "Slap" White.
Scholar Artis Wodehouse writes "(Edythe) appeared as piano soloist, stage performer (singing and dancing), and made over 70 piano roll recordings from 1919 to 1926." This one is played with a lively uptempo dance feel in her classic raggy blues style. Don't miss it!Melodee 3871Jazz Band BluesFox TrotWhitePlayed by Edythe BakerCondition: Roll: Original roll in nice condition. Small chunk out of the left side leader area and a bit of browning to the outer wrap of paper. No other paper issues. No rust to the original black metal flanges either. Plays great.Box: Original box is in just okay condition, back end has some old tape repairs and the original box label has gone missing. The roll label is nice and bright and could easily be reproduced and put on a nicer box.You will receive the exact roll pictured. All rolls have been inspected and determined to be playable on a restored and regulated player piano with any potential defects noted above. Proper care should be given when playing antique piano rolls to avoid damage. Always rewind SLOW and with the left roll flange pulled out slightly to allow the roll to wander and not tear on rewind. Keep your roll tracking mechanism regulated to ensure good paper alignment. If an issue arises and you get a roll that has an unexpected defect, please contact me to resolve any issues. I am happy to work with you, thank you!Shipping: Rolls shipped with USPS Media Mail with tracking unless otherwise requested.
