Mayan Similar God Set (#214) $110
You are looking at a set of turquoise or jade replicas of Mayan Gods, which were worshiped by them around the 12th century. The Mayans were infamous on creating God?s or deities for any occasions and for that reason it is difficult to identify all their countless Gods. They hand carved these deities from various stones like turquoise, jade, gold, silver, etc., to represent humans, animals and events.
Different areas of the Maya Empire had unique God images, and some were more important in one area than in another. Each location would also have its special patron God or mysticisms and beliefs. Wars and dominations were frequent with the Mayans and when one area overtook another through war or politics, they would impose the worship of their favorite gods on their subjects.
These three Mayan reproduction deities are part of their remnants and are mounted on a wooded plaque with a red velvet background, which can be hung on an office wall or added to any collection. The creature on the bottom of the plaque, the cat looking piece is believed to be ?The Mayan Jaguar God? and the other two are unknown to me. This one-of-a-kind collectable item, rustic as well as archaic looking and very eye-catching piece, could be a great conversation piece for any Mayan enthusiast.
