MAX's story
Max was brought to the Animal shelter because he could not get along with the other male dog in the household and was marking his territory. Dachshunds can also be difficult to house train so his new owners will need to work on sending Max outside to the proper place for potties! Per previous owner, Max was kennel/crate trained but may jump on the counter or get into the garbage if left unattended. Max knows some basic commands such as `sit` and `stay`. Max will be looking for a new family without other male dogs. As a small dog, Max would also appreciate a home without small children as he can be nervous around that sort of activity or being picked up or handled abruptly. Dachshunds particularly need to be carried securely as their long backs can make them prone to disk injuries which can result in paralysis of the hind end. Keeping Max fit and healthy is also an important part of keeping his back strong! Max has had a dental while at the shelter and should be on soaked food while his mouth is healing; once his mouth is healed up, his owners should invest in a doggy toothbrush and toothpaste so that they can accustom him to regular oral care! Max is a friendly little guy who would love to be part of your home!
